SUteiShi

In the Fall of 2012, iIntense flooding brought on by Hurricane Sandy submerged retail stores and restaurants in the South Street Seaport.  Buildings dating back to the 18th century filled with water from the East River, destroying countless businesses.  SUteiShi, a beloved sushi restaurant on Peck Slip, suffered significant loss and required a complete rebuild.  With all new underground plumbing, gas services, HVAC and electrical work required to restore the restaurant;  it took months of lobbying with city agencies to open the doors of SUteiShi to the public once  again.  Celebrating its 10-year anniversary since the storm, SUteiShi continues its success as a coveted neighborhood restaurant.
